General description

Zhiduo County is located in the west of Yushu Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture. It comprises the headwaters of the Yangtze River. The total land area is 80,220 km2. There are 1 town and 6 townships. The government is situated in Jiajibuoluo.

The population of Zhiduo County is 23,000, of which over 95% is Tibetan. Zhiduo County is entirely based on animal husbandry. Wildlife resources are abundant, with at least 29 mammal species and 65 bird species, including Tibetan antelope, wild yak, wild ass, snow leopard, blue sheep, otter, argali, Tibetan snowcock and black-necked crane. In addition, there are 480 kinds of natural plants, including medicinal plants such as caterpillar fungus, tumeric, snow lotus, Rhodiola, etc.
